How about that weather, eh?

What do you complain about the most?

2 weeks ago, we had a spell where the windchill was -50°C. (For you in Americaland, that’s -58°F.) That is absolutely not for for human habitation. Within 3 days, we had hit positive temperatures. And, as a fun aside, I get terrible migraines for rapid shifts in the weather.

There is a rule of thumb here that you don’t plant your garden until the Victoria day (Memorial day?) long weekend because that’s as early as you’re likely to be safe from frost. And people talk about having to make their kids’ Halloween costumes to accommodate a snowsuit underneath but, honestly, about half the time, our first real snowstorm actually happens in September.

The summer isn’t as bad but it’s still not great. We usually have patches of 40°C (105°F) but it tends to be tempered by the windstorms and tornadoes. Unfortunately, those really don’t help with the extensive seasonal wildfires. Neither do the electrical storms. At least those tend to be accompanied by the only real rain we get but, sadly, are much less frequent that my perpetual-rain-loving ass would like.
