Hide me away in the rainy woods

Write about your dream home.

I feel like I’ve already sort of written about this in my post about my dream ranch but I will happily elaborate further.

At the Burnaby Village Museum just outside Vancouver, there is a house called Elworth. With a few minor adjustments for accessibility’s sake, it is my dream house. More broadly, my dream house is a reproduction 1.5 story craftsman with the 1920s aesthetic and all the modern bells and whistles hidden underneath. The entire floorplan would need to be scaled up to allow for wheelchair paths around all the furniture, and I’d throw a little extra room on the ass end for a whole master suite instead of just a bedroom but that is about all I’d do for it.

As for the location, it would be on my ranch (obvs.) but in a clearing in a wooded portion with lots of evergreens surrounding it. There would be a creek running nearby but downslope because I don’t mess around with flood risks.

The area would be somewhere where it rains 8 months of the year and snows the other 4. It’d be just outside a moderately sized town, but still within restaurant delivery range. Especially sushi and pizza. The town would have lots of thriving small businesses, a great community spirit, lots of places to volunteer, several seasonal festivals throughout the year with a nice farmers market in the summer, and a broad and welcoming kink community, because aim high, right?

P.S. if you know where this dream town is, hook a girl up.
