Ominous Velour

There are some bits of my job I don’t love (like having to do support ticket video calls with people. Ew. People.) but for the most part, I think my job is about as good a match for me as I could get without going back to school (which I wanted to do but, unfortunately, currency exists and I have none.)

I roll out of bed at 8:50 and sit down at my desk to start work at 9:00, just me and my emotional support iced coffee. And 4 birds. And sometimes a cat. But rarely. Then I set there for 8 hours, blasting my music or listening to a smutty audiobook while getting paid to play around with sharepoint and power automate.

I work for an insurance company but I’m the only person on our team whose background is in computers instead of insurance, so I get the ego boost of everyone gushing over how amazing I am because I know how word templates and excel power query work.

And let me tell you, they could pay me half what they do (not really) but it would still be 100% worth it (that’s 74% US worth it, currently) for not having to commute in -45°C Canadian winters.
