Ominous Velour

Taffeta, satin, and most ominous of all, velour.

The children yearn for the digital mines.

How has technology changed your job?

Ummm… without technology, my job wouldn’t exist. Our entire division has been work-from-home since its inception in 2013. Really, the only changes are that my PC has gotten smaller and my internet has gotten faster.

Even moving from the [REDACTED] department where I spent my first 8 years to my current team where I manage our corporate sharepoint site hasn’t really been a technological advancement because I was in website design and management for well over a decade prior to moving into the [REDACTED] industry.

Although I suppose I should thank technology for my ability to have a career at all, given the disability accommodations I require to be gainfully employed, for the ability to do my job from home where I’m definitely most comfortable, and for the sense of stability and security I had throughout the pandemic as my job effectively remained wholly unchanged.

It’s amazing how AI managed to absolutely nail both my actual work wardrobe AND computer setup.
