To my nerdly bretheren

Fellow gifted children of the 80s,

Do you ever look at the wealth of technology available to us today, 3D printers, drones, AI, programming languages, photoshop, and think to yourself, “HOLY CRAP. THE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS I COULD HAVE PULLED OFF WITH ACCESS TO THIS STUFF…”?

And then do you see your own children being assigned a 3-page essay that they can not only type instead of handwriting in cursive, but also research online instead of having to request books from the library and then wait a week for them to arrive, and they’re half-assing it because “It’s too much work” and you kind of, maybe, just the teeniest, tiniest little bit want to throttle them with the HDMI from their own Xbox?

Or is that just me?

*Disclaimer: both my own children are grown and have long since happily graduated high school, completely unmarred by cable-related floggings.
