The internet is a series of tubes.

How do you use social media?

Dude, I am the absolute worst at mediaing socially. And, no. I don’t care that verbing weirds language. Sometimes language needs weirding.

Many eons ago, before the dawn of time, when there were only BBSes and then the IRC, I was actually halfway passable at conversing with creepy strangers online.

Now I’m just a mess of creating accounts, forgetting to post on them, making 3 random comments on other people’s posts, and then not coming back for weeks. But then, I feel like all the reasons social media was created, finding new, interesting people, and interacting with them is not really what it’s about anymore. It all just seems to be about posting something and then waiting for the likes to roll in, without giving or getting anything of substance.

Anyways, here’s Wonderwall. (And Insta. And Twixter.)

The internet is a series of tubes.

  1. Right On! There is so much nonsense on the internet and social platforms anymore. I do my best to post content that engages and adds value to anyone who scrolls through my blog.

  2. Totally agree! When online communication was always anonymous, the pressure was off and the authenticity was on. Now it’s just digital high school—everyone trying to be the prettiest, most popular, most liked. Boring! Show me eccentricity! Niche hobby message boards! Creative writing!
Maybe we’ll bring it all back through WordPress 😉
